Alert: 1st Klass carnival lyrics and groove hijacked by Black Alex and his production
crew. The
1st Klass hit carnival song "VYE JES", which was released on January 6, 2009,
seemed to have been hijacked by the Ragga artist Black Alex and his production
crew. 1st Klass musicians have expressed their frustrations and discontents on
the air waves in Haiti, Florida, and New York. 1st
Klass became aware of Black Alex's "VYE JES" when the band representative in Haiti
alerted them that Black Alex is using the same title " Vyes Jes" as 1st Klass.
Maestro
Lobertho claims the songs share similarities in their melody, guitar arraignments,
and lyrics. Not only did Black Alex steal the subject concept of 1st Klass 2009
song, but he also hijacked the 1st Klass guitar rift . Black Alex released his
carnival song nearly two and half weeks after 1st Klass. The concept are not just
similar, but are an exact match. "While
we respect Black Alex and his contribution to the Haitian music industry, we think
it is very wrong and he showed a lack of creativity that he has chosen to take
our carnival song concept and some of our lyrics," said Maestro Lobertho. Additionally,
1st Klass was also the victim of another foul play. Our 2008 Carnival "Fe Yo Vwe"
was also taken by another top Haitian band. We spoke to musicians from that particular
group, attempting to resolve the issue. We do not mind helping our fellow musicians
out, as we did we with Tempo (keyboard on the 2009 Nou Bouke was done by Loberhto
of 1st Klass. When
another artist or band choose blatantly to steal your work, we are not going to
stand for it. |
