Florida Haitian Student Association, Inc. (FHSA) will be celebrating its 5th year
anniversary and we are calling on all Haitian organizations, professionals, churches,
businesses and everyone to be part of this very monumental and inspirational weekend.
The theme for the weekend is "Our Vision for Haiti Beyond 2004; Making the
Dream a Reality".
The
convention will kick off on Friday with a tour to different high schools in the
Orlando area encouraging and recruiting young Haitians to attend college. Friday
night will
conclude with our grand opening session where all the colleges
and universities will
come together in the spirit of networking and socializing.
On Saturday, the
students will reflect and present their visions for a better
Haiti beyond 2004
while the guest speakers will offer solutions on different
aspects of the community through lectures and workshops. Moreover, you will experience
thought provoking and revealing workshops on Haitian Voodoo, how to mobilize the
youth and how to invest in the Haitian community.
One of our many projects
is to focus on the city of Casse-Pied,
Jean-Rabel. Every attendee is strongly
encourage to bring $1.00 and a notebook for
a major school supply drive for
the students in Jean-Rabel, Haiti. Other supplies
such as computers, book
bags, calculators and more will also be accepted. We hope
to inspire the students
in that area and to help them realize their potentials. The plan is to contribute
in the development of Casse-pied by showing the children how to be self-sufficient.
Additionally, the four regions of FHSA will be competing in a penny drive and
we need your participation to realize this project.
